Peas Stay Home: The Mocktail

If you’ve been following me for a while, you should know that I’m the self-proclaimed mocktail queen of Buffalo. In fact, I love them so much I decided to take photos of all the mocktails that I’ve enjoyed while out on the town (pre-COVID) and list where I found them: see my feature here!

A few weeks ago, Buffalo Rising reached out to me with a cool idea. Since we currently can’t leave our houses to enjoy a tasty mocktail, why not make one at home with the help of a local master mixologist? I was able to connect virtually via Zoom with Zach Hakes of Las Puertas to make the mocktail that you see above which he titled “Peas Stay Home".”

You’ll see why in a minute.

I was really excited to be able to make the mocktail as he was doing it, and if you’d like to make this at home, here are the ingredients:

  • Avocado puree

  • Pea puree

  • Cucumber puree

  • Dill simple syrup

  • Lime juice

  • Lemon juice

Now I know what you’re thinking…pea and avocado in a drink? Right, but trust me it’s really good. If you’re curious about the exact measurements, please watch the video that Buffalo Rising put together of us making the drink! I didn’t have any fancy cocktail measuring devices, so I just guestimated everything that went in and it still turned out great!

Have you been making your own cocktails or mocktails while in quarantine? If so, I want to hear about it!!
